Modern Bog's debut album, The First Casket, is a haunting and atmospheric journey through the depths of human emotion. From the opening track, "Funeral March," listeners are transported to a world of dark, brooding melodies and ethereal vocals that perfectly capture the mood of the album.

The band's unique blend of post-rock, shoegaze, and gothic influences creates a sound that is both familiar and fresh. The soaring guitars and driving rhythms of "Ghosts in the Attic" and "The Blackest Night" are balanced by the introspective, dreamlike soundscapes of "Fading Memories" and "The Last Goodbye."

But what really sets The First Casket apart is the emotional depth and honesty of the lyrics. Songs like "Echoes of Regret" and "Broken Dreams" explore themes of loss, heartbreak, and existential angst with a rawness and vulnerability that is both relatable and cathartic.

Originally released as tape on Fuss Records (FUSS 004).
Tracks 19-22 from the compilationtape "The Mountains Don't Laugh" (FUSS 005).
Track 18 was never released before.
All songs are live recorded on 2-track recorder in Fusstudio, Studio Blam and The Cosy Cottage. These recordings were made during December 1983.
By mistake the first 10 copies have an extra 23rd track which features the sound of a closing church-door and which was not meant to be there.
This release comes with a reproduction insert of the 10-page comic that accompanied the original tape release.
Modern Bog are Kim Kangaroo (Kim Duchateau) and D.Down (Dirk Dehopré). After their previous band Situation they want to go a new direction, and actually sell their tapes and do some live performances as well. Modern Bog had also other people who often joined them: R.Room (Roeland Duchateau), Mr. Pingpongballoon (Dirk Swartenbroekx/701 Triangles/Tom Toilet foundation/Buscemi/Azure Mortale), Jay Phlitman (Phlitman & Kangaroo/Intige Taluure/Jean-Marie Mievis) and B.Bongo (Aloysius Donimo/Intige Taluure/Bert Vanbreughel).
