Review by Madison L

The album Friends Of Shellac Plus 11 Ovens Demo by Shellac is a powerful showcase of the band's raw and uncompromising sound. Featuring a collection of live recordings and demos, the album captures the intensity and energy of Shellac's live performances, with Steve Albini's guitar riffs and Bob Weston's bass lines driving the songs forward with a relentless force.

Despite the rough and unpolished nature of the recordings, the songs on Friends Of Shellac Plus 11 Ovens Demo display a remarkable level of precision and control, with each instrument playing its part in a tightly woven tapestry of sound. From the driving rhythms of "Doris" to the eerie atmospherics of "Boche's Dick," the album showcases the band's ability to create powerful and evocative music with a minimalistic approach.

About Shellac

Shellac are an indie rock band from Chicago, IL, USA. The group was formed in 1992 by vocalist/guitarist Steve Albini and drummer Todd Trainer. Former bassist Camilo Gonzalez sat in on the band's first few rehearsals and recorded one song ("Rambler Song") with them before Bob Weston joined to permanently fill the bass position. Shellac records and performs infrequently due to their geographic separation (both Albini and Weston live in Chicago while Trainer lives in Minnesota) and the fact that all the members have day jobs (both Albini and Weston are recording engineers while Trainer has managed a warehouse and tended bar). Trainer has also released solo albums under the name and Weston works with .
